Middle East: Awesome First Few Days

Greetings!

We have had two fabulous days where we have been awed by seeing Bible come to life as we can now picture the landscape where Jesus walked. Our hosts and guides have provided rich insight explaining what it was like for Jesus to grow up in Nazareth yet spend his years of ministry near the Sea of Galilee where the western side was home for the Jewish people and "crossing to the other side" meant going to where the gentiles lived. Even then Jesus went to hard places because He loved all people and knew they needed Him too.

Today, we spent several hours with the students who came to the USA for Young Camp at Windy Gap and made some new friends who will be joining us for camp this week. We are so excited, so humbled and so honored. The 80 campers will represent Sophomores - Seniors, from 3 different schools, who claim to be followers of different faiths, including some professing atheists. We know already some of these kids will be difficult kids... rebelling against structure. We know some will come thinking they've heard everything there is to hear about Jesus and yet have not believed what they have heard. We are excited to create camp for these kids in hopes they will open their hearts to the truth. We are willing to try, learn, fail, serve, sweat, love, and pour out all that we have for each kid.

Getting prepped and praying for our upcoming camp.

Please pray for each of the leaders who will be helping kids to process all they are hearing at camp as the gospel story unfolds: Hunter, Lauri, Yousef, Ramon, Nisreen, Julianne, Catie, Rema (new leader), and Jamal (new leader).  Pray for their wisdom, strength, patience and compassion for these kids at camp and for the conversations that will continue after camp.

Peace, Lynda
