East Africa: In a Dry and Thirsty Land

What an adventure we have had today! It was a National Geographic moment. We traveled 2 1/2 hrs away from Nairobi to a Maassai Manyata(village) in Oletepes. The Manyata has not seen rain for over a year. The people walk 6 kilometers to get water. Hospitality is gift they share readily. We were invited into their humble mud huts which are made out of sticks and dung. The women build the huts while the men herd the animals. After our tour of the huts(pictures cannot due them justice) the group separated into men, women & kids for the program. Each group heard the good news of living water that will allow them to never thirst. We also presented them with bags of flour. Our time with the Maassai ended with prayer and words of encouragement from the local pastor. We all stand in awe of the majesty of these amazing people.
