Ecuador: Student Trip - And I Was Glad When They Said to Me...

For eight years teams from Johnson Ferry have had the opportunity to work with the Montalvo Baptist church outside Ambato.  We were there again Saturday to work with their children's Bible Club.  Our team performed David and Goliath to the group of about 60, did craft time and played outside.

When the kids burst through the gates of the church grounds, so excited to be there, it reminded me of Psalm 122:1, "I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the Lord!'"  How often do we trudge to church, check our watches and zone out during services or Bible study thinking about what we'll do that afternoon?  If taking time weekly to praise the Creator, be a community with his people and study what he has said to us already, then the fault is not in our stars, but most likely ourselves.

Today we head home via church at Latacunga, then lunch at an historic hacienda, then a visit to the Equator park and then to the airport for our flight home.  Parents, you can be very proud of how hard your kids worked as well as the spirit in which they served.

A parting view of Camp Chacauco.  Until next year...
