South Asia: Beginnings

"Just as Abraham 'believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.'  Know the that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham." Galatians 3:6-7

The second India team of 2015 is preparing to head out this afternoon.  Our first team laid the groundwork in January with eight groups of local church leaders by teaching five overarching stories of the Bible - from Beginnings to Jesus's Followers.  Our role is to build upon this foundation by beginning to look in-depth at God's word with these leaders and teach them a simple Bible study method.

We will focus on the book of Genesis this trip.  As we prepare to teach on the "Beginnings," we are reminded of the wonder of how the omniscient God had Christ in mind from the very beginning.  The story of God's covenant with Abraham, one that we will be studying with the church leaders, not only tells us of God's grace and future for Abraham and his people, it tells us the reason why we are leaving for India today.

God's word says about Abraham that "'in you shall all the nations be blessed.' So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith" (Gal 3:8-9).  God's church, us, and our brothers and sisters in India, through faith in Christ, find ourselves present in this story as the heirs of the promise to Abraham.  Not only are we blessed, but we now have the privilege of being a part of God's blessing to the nations.

Please pray for us as we join our spiritual family in India and continue to teach God's word so that He can be glorified throughout India and his promise to the nations may continue to be fulfilled.
