This past week a group of college student’s set out to take the gospel to the Matopos Hills region of Zimbabwe.
Through adding onto a local church building, sharing the gospel door to door in the community, and putting on a VBS for kids in the village we saw the Lord move in many ways.
Although this is a place that would be labeled as Christian, the enemy has a major stronghold in the area. There are many in that region who, although they go to church, don’t fully understand the gospel and haven’t fully let Jesus have control of their lives.
There is great division in the church and over and over again, when asking the people how we could pray for them, their response would be “Unity. Pray for unity in our families and in our churches."
Despite the strongholds and lack of community, we saw the Lord move. By the end of the week, one woman in particular (Alice), stood up as she made a decision to follow Christ and like the Ethiopian Eunuch in Acts chapter 8 asked to be baptized that same day.
This woman, who is a major leader in her community, may just be the beginning of many more coming to know Christ as well.
Please continue in prayer with us for unity amongst the Matopos people and continued discipleship of believers like Alice there.
