South Asia: Training Leaders of House Churches

24 May 2016

Yesterday our small team arrived safely in the first town where we will be ministering.  Working in support of our national church planting partners, our primary task is one of discipleship for both emerging leaders and new believers for the rapidly growing church planting movement in this area.  Tomorrow we will begin teaching new believers the Overview course from Foundations for Teaching the Bible.  Today we had the opportunity to visit four different house churches and meet, in their own environment, some of those we will be teaching.  We had the privilege of sharing testimonies and praying for these dear brothers and sisters in Christ.

In the first picture is "Davi", the church planter in this area, his wife and their adopted 18 month old daughter.  Their adopted daughter was about 20 days old and weighed less than 2 lbs when members from their church found her abandoned in a field and brought her to them.  Also in the picture are two ladies that Davi led to Christ.  They began to share Christ with family and neighbors and today a small church made up of women, children and one man, meets in one of their homes.  The most pressing prayer request for these ladies and others was for their husbands to come to Christ.  Both ladies will be at the training tomorrow.

In the center of the second photo is a woman that Davi led to Christ 2 years ago.  Her son, who was struggling with mental health issues, was subsequently healed and he too came to Christ.  His wife then came to Christ and the Lord blessed them with a son.  Soon this woman led her 3 daughters and their husbands to Christ and then her brothers and sister. Today she is engaged in full time ministry and oversees the 15 house churches the Lord has used her to plant. She will be attending the Foundations training and bringing 10 others with her!

To God be the Glory!
