Day 4 on the ground was another great day. Everyone hit their ministry activities and gave it 150% today. They kept me busy trying to keep up with each group, all using their different talents to serve the Lord and serve the community of Montalvo.
VBS began today, and we had a fantastic turnout… we had around 40 kids from the neighborhood who came out to enjoy the fun afternoon. Our team led in worship, drama, and Bible verse memory game before turning them out to our craft and recreation folks. It looked like the kids were having a blast and they didn’t want to leave when it was over.
Our medical team saw almost 45 people today, which is a lot considering we only have two nurses. Their compassionate touch was all the difference in the world, and it was so wonderful watching them see as many as they could help, and also prescribe them with what they needed. We were very thankful to be able to bring multiple suitcases of drugs, vitamins, and supplements to help provide for these physical needs for the people of Montalvo. They were very grateful for the care they received from our team.
Our construction crews switched gears and began work on a different project today. The church we are working in this week, Montalvo Baptist Church, is already sending out people and trying to plant churches in communities that need Christ and leaders who can disciple them. It’s awesome to see a healthy church model, and Montalvo is financially supporting them as they get started. Our construction guys spent the day sanding, staining, and assembling new pews, purchased by Montalvo, that will be used in this church plant.
Finally, we finished the night with a women’s conference at Montalvo Baptist. We sent our guys from the group back to camp, and our ladies stayed behind to love on ladies in the community through this women’s conference. Kathie Taylor led the night, bringing along a really cool tool that not only teaches the creation to Christ (and beyond) story, but leaves the women with a really cool bracelet full of beautiful beads to help not only remind them of their faith, but also hopefully use the bracelet to share with others about Christ. The ladies who came tonight had a great time, and were thankful for this pretty gift that they got to take with them.
We’re so thankful to the Lord for another great day. Thanks so much for the prayers over us as we are over the half way point of the trip. There’s still plenty of work to do, so please continue lifting us up that we may be bold witnesses of Christ, and please continue lifting up those we get the opportunity to minister to… that many will come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior and experience the joy that lives inside of us.
