Italy - cooking and henna

The ladies were honored with beautiful henna designs and then gave an "American " cooking lesson to several of our new NAME friends who were eager to learn.

we made white chicken chili and cornbread to teach them and then enjoyed sharing the fruits of labor with them for lunch.

The men having been meeting and talking with some new acquaintances. We figure we have shared the Gospel with at least one new person and distributed a copy of the Gospels translated into Arabic and Italian along with CD's containing an audio of someone reading the Gospels.  We had an interesting group show up for tonight's ESL -including 3 men fleeing the Taliban in Afghanistan who are here looking for a way to bring the rest of their family out.

Please continue to pray for open hearts and minds of those that God places in our paths

Some of our ladies went to the home of one of our new friends where they were served Moroccan soup, homemade desserts, mint tea and dates, a special sign of friendship. It was good to spend time with them and see a part of their lives.

Italy- Tuesday

Well the national strike continues today, keeping the markets closed where the NAME folks can be found...so the men have had to readjust our plans.  We decided to split up and do some prayer walking around the plazas where typically they work.  As luck would have it, some of them gathered in cafés since they were not working and thus LOTS of sweet Moroccan tea and Italian coffees were consumed as conversations were struck. Many copies of the Injil (the Gospels, as referred in the Koran) in both Arabic and Italian were offered and accepted.

The ladies continued with their sewing lessons and they will go to a baby shower for one of the ladies the local team is getting to know.  The men will lead the first computer training class this evening while the ladies are at the shower.

Thanks for checking in!

Italy - Pampering the Ladies

Today the JFBC Ladies pampered the Moroccan Ladies and were treated ourselves to a cooking lesson and lunch prepared by them.  We also had a great time ministering thru ESL using the Christmas story, Christmas Word matching game and shared star ornaments with them tying into the Christmas story.

Italy - Saturday -recruiting day

We spent today visiting the outdoor market where most of  the North African immigrants work:  renewing connections the local team had and reminding them about the ESL & Computer training courses to be  offered later this week, and looking for new relationships.

Jonathan showed us his Arabic was not nearly as rusty as he thought as he launched right in and made some new contacts for the local team to follow up with.

We toured a local 'prayer center' of the Muslim community- so called we were told as the Italian government  disallows the formation of mosques. The representatives were most gracious and welcomed our questions. They seemed very pleased to have visitors, particularly all the way from the US and they honored us with gifts.   We were told that no Italians besides a group of school children had ever asked to visit and so apparently we were among a very few non-Muslims to visit since it was opened in 2006.   An invitation for dinner was extended to the Imam's son who agreed to meet with the local team.

We then adjourned to dinner as we struggle to adjust our body clocks. Tomorrow is our free day and we will take a day trip into the Alps.

Ciao!,
